New 'Notebook' Blu-ray prank; Originality in question as controvery stirs
Buyer beware; your new Blu-ray version of The Notebook comes with a built in prank. The Notebook director, Nick Cassavetes, thought it would be funny to include an alternate menu screen upon loading up his new director's cut of his popular 2004 romance.
Several critics expressed concern after a menu screen for Lars von Trier's Antichrist popped up after loading up their screener copies for a review. The critics, who upon contact wished to remain anonymous, all contacted the production company and complained that a major malfunction had occured.
Planning ahead, Nick Cassavetes then had the calls forwarded to him where he then proceeded to laugh in the critic's ears.
"I got them so good. Just wait 'til families everywhere load up the DVD and call to complain! I will be brilliant. All they will see is Willem Defoe nailin' that chick in the shower." Nick said through an anonymous inside source.

Upon being asked what the critics thought of the prank, most said: "Umm...I don't get it. What's so funny about it?"
Some question the originality of the prank as well after David Fincher pulled a similar prank on his Fight Club Blu-ray release. Fincher replaced the menu screen to Fight Club with the menu screen from Drew Barrymore's Never Been Kissed.
